Mission Trip
For my second post, my teacher is making me write about where I would like to go on a charity trip and why. So, after 20 minutes of staring off into space, I finally decided on going to a Hadzabe tribe in the African Rift Valley. For those of you who don't know, the Hadzabe are a tribe in Tanzania that have not evolved in the last 12,000 years. Their entire language consists of clicks and whistles. They are still a hunter gatherer society. Unfortunately for the Hadza, 2 very wealthy Arab princes want to buy out their home ground for 30 million euros, to use as a hunting ground. In addition they are willing to pay a 5,000 euro tax on every animal that they kill. The Tanzanian government is strongly considering this because they are both very poor and believe that the Hadza is a backwards society. That's what I would do on my trip, protest to prevent the buying off of the Hadza land. I just find it horrible that an ancient culture could be destroyed by a couple of wealthy princes.
